STOP Complaining, And START Being Grateful.

Rio De Janeiro – Favela

Do you know this place?

Or how about this place?

Chances are, you probably don’t know this place because you’ve never had to experience living here, or never been here. How do I know that? Because you’re reading this post right now, with your internet, probably in your warm comfortable home.

Well, the people that live in these slums, favelas, and poor neighborhoods don’t have the luxury of your warm, and comfortable lives, because they’re forced to fight to survive. They don’t complain about their grades. They don’t complain about having the next iPhone, they don’t complain that the weather is bad, and they don’t complain that the dude on Instagram are doing better than them.

The point is, they don’t complain about shit that don’t matter, like most of us do.

We don’t get to complain about anything. We just don’t. What’s the damn point? We have roofs over our heads, we got food on the table, we got clean clothes we can wear, and we got friends and family. Yet we sometimes complain about even the simplest, stupidest shit that doesn’t even matter to a single atom, and we refer to them as ‘first world problems’.

Just why? If you’re not gonna do anything about the thing you’re complaining about, just f*cking stop complaining. The people who have it hard aren’t even complaining. They’re too busy figuring out how to feed themselves and their family, not about what that chick on IG is up to.

I mean, yea, I guess complaining is natural but seriously, what do we have to be complaining about? Somethings we complain about we can’t even do anything about it, like the weather, a pandemic, and all that. But the things that we can do something about it, why not do it? Instead of blame, and complain, why not find a solution, or fix the problem? And if you’re not willing to do that, why are you complaining?

Look at these adorable little kids here.

What do you see? I see smiles. I see happiness. And so do they.

They’re finding happiness, and are enjoying life even more than we sometimes do. Although we are materially more advantaged over them, how are we so damn miserable and unhappy? It’s cuz we never take the time to contemplate how lucky and fortunate we are. We barely look at our lives and be grateful for them. Instead we complain, and always look for more stuff, more expensive things, and newer stuff.

It’s time we stop that. If we keep going on as we are doing right now, we won’t improve our lives. We won’t improve anything. Instead, let’s do something to stop f*cking complaining all the time, and be actually grateful for what we already have.

The next time you’re about to find yourself complaining, or wanting the next big thing, or tech, look at yourself and ask:

“Am I happy with my life? Are the things I have already enough? Am I just chasing something?”

And then, remind yourself that you are:

Happy, grateful, lucky, fortunate, and very privileged to be reading this right now, breathing, smiling, with a full stomach, and a calm life.

Be grateful for what you already have.

Don’t complain, if you want to complain, do something about it.
